Johnson & Johnson is an international pharmaceutical company. They came to us asking if we could do a small fair stand for an internal communications project, Road 2010. At the first meeting we were asked to propose a couple of ways that would grab the attention of the people and that would lead them to a place where they could follow a short demo. The budget was not very large, and also it had to be easy to transport, either as luggage on a plane or in a normal car. It als was on a relatively short deadline.
So for the next meeting we had prepared a couple of ideas, such as floor stickers, and a cosy corner with some large imagery. However some new problems arose. It could not take up a lot of space while running the demo, as it would be installed in a hotel loby. Also the floor stickers would not be possible. And time was running too short for anything special to be produced.
So we simplified our plans and went for somewhat more conventional materials. we proposed a couple of different setups with lightweigth banner materials, and some nicely dressed tables, from which they could do a small projection for the demo. As reminders for the visitors we, first thought about a bottle of beer with a chili peper inside it, as the chili peper would become an integral part of the communications setup. With this we could suply a small card stating: "One for the Road" to imply a toast to the succes of the Road 2010 project. However due to it's size this was discarded and a small card with the phrase "(Y)our new portal" was chosen instead.
The final setup was the combination af a large arched backdrop, with the main image and slogan on it, and a set of three smaller banners, one of which could be used for projection. All this would be set up around two small tables for the people to stand at and watch the demo. As a small reminder the card would be given to them, so they would remember to go and visit the portal. Even with the tight budget, short deadline and changing job description, we managed to produce a nice set, with which both Johnson & Johnson and we were happy. And we even did it before the end of the deadline.
